Shadowfax appears to be at the end of the line. This is depressing for a few reasons, one I'm forced to realize that while I can buy some drinks at the bar I'm not nearly as wealthy as I'd like to be. Secondly, I love that car and I wish it could have gotten to 200,000 miles. And finally I feel like I've given up on it, makes me all kinds of sad.
About to get thrust into the real world of journalism, like this week. To say I'm a bit nervous is an understatement.
Now that I've been writing for close to a month here's my thought process on how things are going.
1. For the first time I'm getting some real feedback, which is a good for my progress but bad for my temporary self-esteem.
2. Some coaches are nice to talk to, very friendly and others are unintentionally intimidating.
3. The articles I feel are my best are usually the ones my editor dislikes the most. But I feel I'm learning what he wants and how he wants it done.
This Michael Bay Victoria's Secret commercial is awesome. Not gonna lie, this man maybe the single most awesome human on the planet.
Linda McMahon is running for senator? Awesome. Don't blow this Connecticut. Apparently she was appointed to the Connecticut Board of Education, who knew?
More about Linda and the WWE...
"Linda helped grow a company from a modest 13-person operation to a publicly traded, global enterprise with over 500 employees and offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, London, Ontario, Shanghai, and Tokyo. The company has been named one of the Forbes 200 Best Small Companies."
That's considered a small company? Really Forbes?
Ok, I've spent the past few minutes reading over her site, and I'm sold on her as a candidate.
The Bon Iver song, "Skinny Love" is still one of my favorite songs of the last few years.
And I told you to be patient
And I told you to be fine
And I told you to be balanced
And I told you to be kind
And now all your love is wasted
And then who the hell was I?
And I'm breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines.
Who doesn't love a little Butch Walker. Filmed at the 11/13 NYC date, which yours truly was fortunate enough to attend.
I can't tell how I feel about Mariano Rivera's demeanor on the mound. He looks so lifeless and defeated it's almost like he doesn't care anymore. But then again I am a big believer in the act like you've been there before celebrations. So I'm like Natalia Imbruglia.
Memorable quotes from nights of drinking...
"It's good because it's good."
-Tim I think, maybe Kevin, maybe someone else.
"If I had a gun that could shoot lava I would rule the world."
-Yours truly, because I'm vain.
New music is good.
New Tegan And Sara is good, not sure it's better than The Con
New Switchfoot is good, better than anything they've done since Beautiful Letdown
New Say Anything is also good. Much better than In Defense of the Genre possibly due to it not being two discs.
New band to me, Harvard, is good. Vocally similar to Circa Survive era Anthony Green.
Played around with google maps, found out that the route I take to Oswego is eight miles shorter than the suggested route but a full fifteen minutes longer. Not sure I believe that for a second. These are the things that entertain me while I sit around listening to music.
Tay Swift is dating that dude from Twilight who's not Rob Patts? When the shit did this happen?
Chances are if you're reading this you care about my opinions on things. Or you're just bored. Anyways, since you all car so much here's my year end favorites list.
Album of the Year:
1. Brand New: Daisy
Not really a surprise there, but beyond the Brand New bias I have to say it's a bad ass record.
2. Fun.: Aim and Ignite
A fine collection of pop songs that have gotten better with more listens.
3. Set Your Goals: This Will Be The Death of Us
Great pop punk from start to finish, killer guest vocals and it's pedal to the medal the entire time.
4. The Dangerous Summer: Reach For The Sun
5. .moneen.: The World I Want To Leave Behind
6. Manchester Orchestra: Mean Everything To Nothing
7. Thrice: Beggars
8. The Damnwells: One Last Century
9. Third Eye Blind: Ursa Major
10. As Tall As Lions: You Can't Take It With You
11. Switchfoot: Hello Hurricane
12. Tegan and Sara: Sainthood
13. Wilco: Wilco
14. Trophy Scars: Bad Luck
15. Polar Bear Club: Chasing Hamburg
Song of the Year:
1. Passion Pit: Little Secrets
2. fun.: The Gambler
3. The Devil and The Lion: The Thief
4. Brand New: You Stole
5. Jay-Z: DOA

The one thing that stays mine
So I'm googling all of my friends by name and I'm pissed at google. At some point in typing all my friends' names google prompts their name eventually. So for instance if I type Nate Mu google is like "Nate Mumford, I'll take it from here Dan." Except that it doesn't do that for my name, and that hurts google, it hurts a lot. Also if you google another friend's name the seventh thing is called "Porn Site Strip Club," which is awesome. See if you figure out which one! Or not, her bf works(worked?) for college humor. And if you don't know now then you'll never guess.
I just looked at my finances, and it's not like I have a ton of financial obligations but I've been spending money like it's going out of style. It's almost absurd how much I've been spending. Although a huge chunk of that is tution related it's still a bit alarming.
It's nice to see a team other than the Mets completely beat themselves in a playoff series other than the Mets. Watching this Yankees-Twins series has been almost nostalgic for me, it's like watching the Mets and Yankees in that 2000(I think) World Series. The same mental mistakes are there, the blown save by the closer when the team made a huge base running blunder earlier that would have provided further insurance. I swear all that's missing is Bobby V.
Once again I've put myself in one of my self pitying/depressed moods. Which I have developed quite the talent for, and it's all because I realize something or finally accept some fact that I haven't before hand and then everything just kind of piles on. Gonna do what I always do, listen to depressing music(btw, Weekend Stars of Purchase, NY), make a list of things I should do from now on, listen to the Damnwells and then move on(although not necessarily forward).
The list for those interested goes something as follows...
1. Get over it.
2. Write more.
3. Read more.
4. Grow up.
My Christmas story is progressing slower than it should, but just about as quickly as I realistically expected. Anyways it's probably not gonna be finished by Thanksgiving as hoped. Turns out that school work, my overall laziness, and the difficulty of writing a children's story that you can actually be proud of is rather tough for me. But the process is moving forward, ever so slowly, major characters are in place and the story is constantly being altered. Not that you care.

In your dreams...
Even in my dreams I don't get laid. I had a dream the other night involving Megan Fox, and you know what we did? We cuddled for a few minutes, rode dirt bikes(winning some backyard competition thing) and then ran away from a demon. Then as the demon closed in on her, obviously not wanting me, I dragged the demon to the ground with the intention of sacrificing myself to save her. Except it turns out demons, at least the ones in my dreams, hate the earth and die. So I saved the day, and then I woke up.
So the next time when I mention a girl that I clearly have no shot with people can't even say "only in your dreams" because even there nothing happens. Sad face.
While looking for tv to watch I stumbled upon the Power Rangers, now my desire to be one held my attention, and as I'm watching they're all wearing leather jackets. Fuck that makes me want to be one even worse now. Also they may have just taken a giant fireball straight to the face and come up relatively unharmed.
I know Adventureland is a very average movie, and I am very aware of it's shortcomings, but I like it. So there.
The new .moneen. album is fantastic. Right now I'm absolutely loving it. And even though the lyrics aren't all that deep and overly meaningful and clever they're my favorite lyrics of the year. Of course the fact that moneen is one a few bands that just instantly makes me feel better doesn't hurt. And case you're wondering the other bands in that list are as follows, The Damnwells, As Tall As Lions, Jimmy Eat World, Brand New, and the Gaslight Anthem.
Brand New's Daisy is good. Really good. But not great. It's a record that at the end of your first listen you just go, wow.
So Muse was told they'd have to play to a backing track and this is how they decided to handle it...
Couple of things, in 1985 the Chicago Bears recorded a song called the Super Bowl Shuffle, which despite being awesome was only nominated, didn't win, for best Best Rhythm & Blues Vocal Performance—Duo or Group. According to wikipedia.
Then the next year, just one game into their season the Mets recorded "Get Metsmerized" and I'll be damned if it isn't even better than the Super Bowl Shuffle. I've embedded it for your listening pleasure.

Short and sweet...well short at least
At some point around 12:45am on September fifth one of my friends said " I wanna get my little sisters pootie," unfortunately I can't remember which one it was.
And at some other point Jackie yelled at Nathan "because you're a man." Not sure which of those things the respective speaker should be more ashamed.
The newest iTunes is certainly different, not entirely sure how I feel about it yet.
Would you like to tatoo a girls boobs? Of course you would.
I've pretty much been set up with a job opportunity at a local news paper, and it's possibly the single most terrifying thing that's ever happened to me. First of all this pretty much all I wanted out of my career, working at small newspaper, but the thing is I'm terribly afraid that I'm about to find out I'm an awful writer with no future in the newspaper business. At which point I either go play in traffic or would then have to seriously consider a change in major. Which is absolutely the last thing I want to do, I've worked something like five plus years to get where I am(which is a part-time undergrad, man I'm awesome) and to have to go back to square one would be incredibly defeating.
So we'll see how this goes, hopefully because I've gone a vast majority of my life without putting myself out there because of the fear of getting burned, so hopefully my first time won't be my last.
Cause I could spend my life just trying to sift through
What I could've done better but what good do what ifs do

That just happened
If you couldn't tell by my blogs where I ramble on, about myself and then expect people to read I'm an incredibly selfish person. And I'm only now realizing how selfish I really am.
So a certain friend and I were talking the other day about what a horrible person he is, which may or may not be related to my flip flopping attitude. Anyways, so it came up in conversation that the next time a girl wants to get into a serious relationship with him he should send her my way and I could give a list of reasons not to date him, for their mutual benefit of course. I'm not going to post it now because if it's not but it's ready, and if you want a similar service I could help you out.
Apparently if I had a baby with Megan Fox it would look like this...

What do you think about my little new baby Dan(ielle)?
MakeMeBabies.com - What will your baby look like?
And me and Nate...

What do you think about my little new baby Dathaniel?
MakeMeBabies.com - What will your baby look like?
Over a year old but still entertaining. Well played Time, well played indeed.

There's a book on the internet about blowjobs, which 201 people are currently trying to download. While the first Stephen King book I've found only has 11. Really internet? Really?
So I'm watching this celebrity softball game, don't ask why, that's part of MLB's All Star festivities and they've got quite the selection of celebs there.
-Nelly once again proves that he's a decent athlete, at least, and made a nice diving catch. Although I think he was in the Cardinals farm system at some point so I'm going to give him guff for looking lost on one fly ball.
-Shawn Johnson of Dancing With The Stars fame, and I suppose Olympic gold medal fame, is a little firecracker out there. Tons of energy looks stoked to be there. I'm stoked for her.
-Andy Richter of Andy Richter Controls The Universe and he's on some show with Conan O something. Anyways, I digress, that man has legs that were made to be hidden behind long pants. They're what I imagine my legs will look like in twenty or so years.
-Also is it sad that I saw the last name Littrel and instantly knew he was a Backstreet Boy?
-Follow up, is Backstreet one word or two?
Oh happy day! NY has a lingerie football league team. The New York Majesty! And they'll be playing at the Nassau Coliseum. As if women in lingerie playing football wasn't exciting enough there's the following info...
"This fall, the term Friday Night Lights will be redefined when the New York Majesty hit the field as part of ‘LFL, Friday Night Football’ at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Fans arriving early to the arena will take part in one of the country’s biggest tailgate festivities complete with Beer Gardens, Video Gaming Lounges, Football Challenges, LIVE Music/DJs, Face-Painting, Bar-B-Que Stations etc."
There's not one part about that quote that I don't like. You know excluding the "shit hole" that is the Coliseum. Face-painting included. Hopefully I can be a tiger.
Listening to the new Alexisonfire album, and good golly does Dallas Green have a phenomenal voice.
The new .moneen. album is really good. Although it sounds very similar from start to finish.
This is how intimidating my dog is, today I noticed a small deer eating plants from my mom's garden.
I've really got to stop messing around on craig's list.
Fuck candystand, all I wanted to do was play a nice relaxing game of mingolf. And what did I get? Reminders of how crippled I am and easily frustrated I become in certain things. By the way, I shot 108 try and beat that. 79 of which were on the back nine.
This choose your own apocalypse thing is fucking diesel. Check it out. Also according to my results..

I make them good girls go bad...
Not that you care, but the Penguins fourth goal in game four of the Stanley Cup Finals is an absolutely beautiful goal. I've seen the replay a few times now and still captivating.
Riding back from NYC on the train with Jackie was an interesting expirience. For starters it's the first time I can remember where I rode back in the daylight. So that was fun. But the real excitement was provided by an old lady in the seat in front of us. Upon boarding the train she was a little chatty with her husband. Which I was ok with, because you know that's what people do on a train. They talk to each other. After a few minutes they got quiet and started reading their paper, while Jackie and I discussed very relevant and appropriate topics including but not limited to, when she would move to NYC and how are old friends of hers doing and such. While that was going on the old woman was making remarks under her breath, but clearly loud enough for us to hear her. All in all she was an ass. And because of being raised not to be a dick to people, and my general apathy, I just let it go. But I wish I wasn't so awesome and polite, would have been some fun to get into an argument with her, certainly would have been a good way to pass the time.
The old lady's antics got me thinking, how much longer until I'm old enough to pull that shit, you know just be a complete dick to people? Five years? Twenty? Thirty? I'm hoping for sooner rather than later because it seems like fun.
Fun fact, took a facebook quiz type thing to determine how gay I am once and for all, and one of the questions was "how often do you listen to coldplay?"
btw, 24%.
Andrew WK + Explosions = Best Game Show. Ever. Of all times.
Watch the preview it will be the best minute and half of your life, you know barring any time I naked around you.
I don't know what to believe in anymore. First the Red Wings lose the Stanley Cup despite far superior beards, and then Mets perfect closer is no longer perfect because AROD is clearly the sneakiest man of all time. I hate life right now.

Maine was pretty fantastic. Got to hang out with some good friends and do lots of fun things inlcuding but not limited to...
-Beach stuff
-Federal Jack's, and having my venegance.
-Gritty McDuffs and going to look at the brewery only to end up outside.
-Red Hook, and it's awesome things like cheap awesome tours guided by Byron. Postcards to drunkenly write out. Good food. Legendary sampler. Free ingredients and a rather exciting ride home, that I slept through most of.
-Finally getting ice cream.
-Reggae bands and 25 cent pbr. Not that I had any, went classy with Arogant Bastard Ale.
-Pitch and putt golf, throwing left handed for a hole in one on sixteen then promptly taking five strokes to make it.
-Learning new fighting techniques then immediately using them against Tim.
-Taking over the world in Risk.
-Autonomous Collectives.
-Tim ruining said ACs.
-Snorlax and his ability to destroy Tim.
-Finally, finishing Notes From A Small Island and starting Boys of Winter.
-That damn kid ruining my birthday and saying I look like the devil.
True story, there's a book about to grow your penis on the internets for downloads. And no, I didn't download it. Yet.
The new Cobra Starship song, "Good Girls Go Bad" is so incredibly catchy. But it's also making it harder to continue to support and preach the greatness that was Midtown. Damn you Gabe.
The new All Time Low record is a good pop punk record. And their lead single, "Damned if I Do Ya(Damned If I Don't) which was produced sounds like it would fit right in on Butch's own Left of Self Centered. You know with the obvious exception being that Butch has better vocals.

"I felt bad for me afterward, I can't imagine what she felt like"
A lot has happened since I last posted so without further adieu I give you my past few weeks.
Picture if you will, yours truly all devilishly good looking walking towards a toddler. Now remember, I am tall, toddler is short so their head only comes up to my ass. And just as I am about to pass the toddler I have to fart. Dilemma? Deep soul crushing decision? Not really, because even though I could have literally farted in the kids face without anyone knowing I didn't. Just thought I should share.
There may or may not be coyotes howling outside. This alarms me.
Fun Fact, not only did they make a second Butterfly Effect, but there's a third!
Here's how you know you have achieved an awesome level of sexiness. When your friends tell you to keep your current look but you wake up every morning and hate yourself because of it. Only then have you truly achieved greatness, whether it be a bleached blond mullet, or terrible terrible facial hair.
Have you ever heard a song and felt like they were singing about you and your life? Like I was listening to Ted Leo a little bit ago and was like, you're right, I do got a whole lot of walking to do. Seriously though, today I heard a song and it totally floored me. I've posted the lyrics at the bottom of this blog.
First Impressions:
Taking Back Sunday's New Again is pretty much immediately forgettable. Not that there aren't some bad tracks but I've listened to it five times through and absolutely nothing stands out.
I've been listening to this band called Jackson's Kid Summer. It's alternating male and female vocals so obviously I'm digging it. Also they're playing in Syracuse this weekend with Straylight Run, Lovedrug and Good Old War. That's a hell of show and if I wasn't going to be in Boston I'd be a bit jealous and disappointed.
This is more of a second impression but Midtown's Living Well Is The Best Revenge has recently crept it's way up towards the top of my all time favorite pop punk releases.
I haven't been fully paying attention but new Placebo is sounding pretty good so far.
New moneen EP posted below is solid. Probably not as good as The Red Tree, but you can never go wrong with new moneen. Love that band.
Movie Thoughts:
-The Rock is becoming more and more like able by the day. Sure he's made some questionable movies but damn it if the man isn't charming.
-At the end of Journey To The Center of the Earth there's a bit of a teaser for a potential sequel as Brendan Frasier's character hands his nephew a book on the lost city of Atlantis. Needless to say I'm hopeful of a worthy follow up.
-Ghostbusters III is generating quite a bit of buzz lately because it's finally making some announcements. Up until now there's been no time table for filming or anything beyond that two dudes from the Office are writing it, but things are happening now and this has me very excited.
Boston Recap:
Fenway, is a dirty, cramped and smells of stale beer and that is exactly the way it should stay. Ball parks with that type of history shouldn't be improved or replaced(I'm looking at you Yankees) unless the building is literally condemned. Although it would have been nice had there been a quicker way for people to get underneath cover from a sudden torrential downpour, or perhaps if I had a poncho of slightly higher quality. But such is the price you pay, and now I have a crappy old phone. Also, large groups of people are very inconsiderate and won't move further back into covered area so other people can get out of the rain and not have their phones ruined.
Quote of probably forever-
As we were stuck in a torrential downpour the person behind us had this gem, "I feel like the poor people on the titanic. That's it, no more lifeboats, women and children first."
NYC Recap:
Once again I proved to myself that when on my own I'm more than capable of getting from point A to point B. But the second I have to lead the group things get dicey.
Planet Hollywood had a fair amount of ghostbusters stuff which I appreciated. But they also had a hand print from Ashley Tisdale! Which I touched, and it's like we've practically done it because I touch myself with those hands, so through the transient properties of plaster we've done it. And we're awesome.
Looking back at the list of bands I've seen, which can be found here, and it's either really awesome or really sad that I've been fairly impressed by a vast majority of the bands I've seen. Which if you're wondering and are too lazy to look for yourself is over 110 bands. Fun fact, I've added five bands to that list since summer of 07.

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreamin' but
There's a voice inside my head sayin'
You'll never reach it
Every step I'm takin'
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shakin'
But I
Gotta keep tryin'
Gotta keep my head held high
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
The struggles I'm facin'
The chances I'm takin'
Sometimes might knock me down but
No, I'm not breakin'
And I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep goin' and I
I gotta be strong
Just keep pushin' on 'cause
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes you're gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
Yeah, yeah

Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waitin' on the other side
It's the climb
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Keep on movin'
Keep climbin'
Keep the faith
Baby, yeah
It's all about
It's all about the climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

Miley Cyrus: The Climb
Picture if you will, yours truly all devilishly good looking walking towards a toddler. Now remember, I am tall, toddler is short so their head only comes up to my ass. And just as I am about to pass the toddler I have to fart. Dilemma? Deep soul crushing decision? Not really, because even though I could have literally farted in the kids face without anyone knowing I didn't. Just thought I should share.

Your passport to love land
As you may have noticed I closed out my last blog entry with lyrics from Cursive's song "What Have I Done." At the time they were more depressing because, well I was a bit depressed, but now I see them as more motivational. For like the tenth time this year I've made some decisions about how I'm going to live my life following a trip upstate and once again I've done it. So the old me is dead and gone, well not so much dead or gone, but more like hidden in the attic like the red headed step child.
As I was driving home the other day I realized something that was kind of depressing, I may never set foot in Oswego again. I've really got no reason to go back anymore, no offense to Heather who may or may not be reading this, and it feels like I've graduated. Except you know without the whole diploma thing and being able to move on. And that's what sucks, is that because I've done nothing with myself for the last year or so, that I am basically forced to stay here until I finish up college somewhere. Ideally in a year or so but nothing's gone the way I planned so why would this.
Because of this I've decided to commit to writing more, whether it be my Christmas story(How We Saved Christmas), or another piece entirely it's something I would like to see through from start to finish regardless of bad it turns out to be. I'm thinking this first book will be my life's work of sorts, something I'll never stop working on until I feel the world is ready to handle it.
Quick note: Instead of "How We Saved Christmas," I originally typed "Ho We Saved Christmas" which I think will be my follow up. Except there'll be a comma, "Ho, We Saved Christmas" and Ludacris will make an appearance and do rap song not unlike Vanilla Ice in the second turtles movie. Of course it will be legen, wait for it, dary! BTW, that will never get old. Hopefully.
New dredg and mewithoutyou records have me a bit confused. They're good but neither is what I was hoping for/expecting. Which ultimately means save for a few select songs they're both a bit disappointing.
New Straylight Run and Wilco, first impressions are positive. Haven't listened either nearly enough yet, but Straylight is more a return to the self titled and their original demos.

I've underestimated my charm...again
Fun fact even though I misspell it frequently, and use spell check to correct it I don't think I'll ever learn how to spell awkward. Also, it's an awkward word, I mean just look at it with it's w-k-w combo.
One of these days I'm going to blow way too much money on some unlicensed crap related to tv shows or movies I like. Like this for example, or this Bill and Ted shirt, or perhaps these How I Met Your Mother shirts. And if I ever meet a girl wearing this I think my reaction will be, "Yeah it is...we should get married." Anywho you get my point.
If I'm the last person to notice this please forgive me but, Florida is just a single tap of my spacebar away from being Flo Rida. You see what I did there, I turned a state into a rapper with one fell swoop of my index finger.
Incubus has a song or two songs for that matter, called "Earth to Bella," what are the odds they were written after reading the Twilight books? One in three? One in a thousand? Slim and none? Taking all bets now. And don't go looking to Wikipedia it has failed.
New fun site since I'm passive aggressive and all. And just a little angry at most people.
Citi Field Review:
-First things first, we did a very good job of getting there precisely when we wanted to. Kudos to all parties involved.
-Walked around the entire park, half on the way in, the other half on the way out. And it's truly a good looking stadium.
-Walked around most of the interior during the middle innings, and were able to see the field almost the entire time which was nice.
-Tons of food choices, sea food, tacos, burgers but that's something everyone expects.
-The beer selection was impressive. There was at least twenty or so different beers, microbrews and macro, all available for under $7.50.
-Apparently you can get Brooklyn Lager in cans, not sure where but we can confirm it exists.
-Cup holders at every seat, a very underestimated perk.
-The Jackie Robinson Rotunda was classy, as expected.
-Got out picture taken with the old Homerun Apple. Awesome.
-Seats were on the left field landing, had good view of entire field except small portion of track in left center field.
-"I didn't even think about the seats"-Nate on how comfortable the seats were.

-They're going to play Bridge To Terebithia on ABC Family tomorrow. If the Rangers lose tomorrow and I watch that movie it will be the saddest day ever.
-And since it's been a while I'm going to reiterate how much I love that movie. So good. Also it was apparently shot in New Zealand and the effects were done by the same guys who did Lord of The Rings.
-The little girl who runs into the Girls Room, while Janice is there crying, is Molly (Maisy McLeod-Riera) who played Sam Gamgee's baby boy in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
Since I'm such a good friend I've decided to check up and see if the New England Euphoria of the LFL have posted their roster. And the answer is an underwhelming yes, I never thought I could be disappointed by a group of supposedly good looking women in lingerie but it's been done. Now I hang my head in shame.
Nine minutes of NPH goodness...
-Listen to Bon Iver's song "Skinny Love," your life will be better for it.
I spent the best years of my life
Waiting on the best years of my life

Ruthless Efficiency
New Castledoor record is good. Having listened to half of it, I can say I recommend it.
I don't think I ever realized how pop oriented Coheed And Cambria were. I'm not saying that it's a good or bad thing, but it's something I just realized.
Speaking of pop the new Mercy Mercedes record should be chock full of pop goodness.
I can't get over how much I love this band, The Devil and The Lion are definitely a band I wished would have stuck for a few more years. So good.
I'm still waiting for some good new music this year. So far I've been kind of let down by some of my anticipated releases so I'm hoping this summer things get turned around. Both Brand New and Say Anything or mixing their albums now, so those should be out by the end of the summer. As Tall As Lions should be finished real soon, if it's not already. And I feel like Jimmy Eat World owes me, that's right owes me personally, a new album.
Geoff Rickley ftw.
I appreciate playoff hockey because it gives me an excuse to continue to grow this poor excuse for a mustache for a while. So until further notice Danscaping is postponed. Also I've now had one person say the liked it(my facial hair that is) and another two tell me not to shave. Although I'm unsure about their motives.
Build A Beard ftw!
I have four friends that have declared themselves fans of Vin Diesel on facebook. I have four friends who are idiots. If that upsets any of you, you're the problem in our country. Because someone had a different opinion you felt personally attacked, instead of focusing on the bigger issue; why do you like such a shitty actor. Daniel Tosh ftw.
That was my third time using ftw, for those keeping score at home.
Even Dora the Explorer has a motorcycle of sorts. This is frustrating.
The Buffalo Sabres many moons ago drafted Taro Tsujimoto from the Tokyo Katanas. Except that he doesn't exist. He was made up by their GM and he didn't tell anyone until weeks after the draft was finished.
I'm tired of having my birthday in the winter when it's cold. So those of you reading this are hereby invited to my spring birthday bash-stravaganza on May 16. Bring presents, and there will be cake.
Firefox hates text twist apparently. Therefore I hate firefox right now.
NYC notes...
-I am ruthlessly efficient on the subway when I'm alone. Put me with people and I'm a complete failure.
-The first bar, The Bitter End, was actually a cool place. It had a comedy club vibe but with live music, as mentioned before it was real easy for me to get to.
-Speaking of the live music. The first band we saw as alright, not good but could have been much worse. The second band was a Killers type band called The Vanguard and enjoyed their set. Following them was a band called Open Til Midnight, and their singer was in a boy band called Dream State. Here's how I described them to Nate, "they're like the Red Hot Chili Peppers except their guitarist isn't John Fruscantie(sp?), their drummer isn't Chad Smith, their bass player isn't Flea and their singer is Anthony Keidis." Although that description is a bit off, they were more pop oriented. And the final group was saw was someone rap group that was like the Roots and absolutely had me mesmerized. I felt like I was watching something special for a bit. Then we left, and listened to them on myspace and was severely disappointed.
-I thrive on awkwardness, it makes me happy. Which is good because I'm pretty awkward on my own, so I may as well enjoy it when others create it.
-Without fail I will fall asleep on the train ride back.
The Mets and Rangers won today, at the time of this writing the Yankees pitching(well starting pitcher) has my brother so frustrated he doesn't even want to think about the Yankees. It's a good day.
Franchises make me depressed.
If you know me at all you should have figured out by now that I'm a sucker for sequels, well repeat characters. Whether they be in movies or books I can become real attached to characters or groups of characters and then I get depressed. It's a weird thing it's why I hate when franchises end. Don't get me wrong I don't want them to continue just to keep characters in order but endings rarely leave me fulfilled. I hate happy endings that aren't really plausible or are overly sappy and cheery. But at the same time I hate when there's a realistic ending the group splits, the end of Lord of The Rings greatly disappoints me. Which is something that is directly related to my seeming lacking desire for things to change, even if it's for the better.
On a related note I'm clearly a 13 year old girl trapped inside a man's body.
Upon further review my description of Open Till Midnight is pretty off. Oh well. And if you're interested they are giving away their songs free at their website. I for one will not be downloading.
Dear Kelly Clarkson,
I feel like we've had a good thing going the last few years, I even liked you single from My December. But your new song, "I Do Not Hook Up," makes me a little sad. Now I'm not saying you need to whore it up, please don't actually, but I don't need an anthem for women to rally around. In these trying economic times I am struggling to "hook up" as you put it and this song certainly will not help things. I'll forgive you this time, but in the future please be considerate of my feelings.
Love,
Dan
PS- I still think the song is alright.

I'm like the easter bunny...
This is...awkward.
Find out Your Sexual Fetish at LiquidGeneration.com!
Speaking of sex...a Scrubs based porno? SOLD!
I cleaned the interior of my car, and emptied my change. I made myself $28, not including the drawer of pennies I have. Pretty stoked about this.
Now that Nate has twitterizied I feel the need to match him for online outlets. But alas, all of my tweets...twits...whatever would be about my never ending struggle with my desire/inability to grow a mustache. Also, how great my Christmas story is going to be, I don't want to build it up too much but it very well may become a classic on par with Rudolph and Frosty.
The best website ever. Canadian Sex Acts. Follow up, is that Alan Thicke? He's Canadian? Good for him...I suppose.
Ok, I'm to recap my trip upstate for you. This won't be in chronological order, just whatever order I remember it in.
-I've developed a love hate relationship with Syracuse. I love it because many bars that I like, lots of local/microbrews, a sweet independent record store and a pseudo classy/preppy downtown area. And I hate it because after possibly the best weather day of the year, that terrible city drops down to freezing with snow and rain for a day. Westchester tried that on me today, except that instead of cloudy rainy and miserable it briefly snowed while maintaining a temperature of fifty degrees. Because of your awful weather you're officially on notice Syracuse.
-Speaking of my love hate relationship I was very close to starting a fight with an unsuspecting little kid. Little brat made me waste twenty or so minutes of my life without even realizing.
-Went to Adventure Island(also known as Adventureland, the movie, just don't tell Tim). First of let me say the soundtrack was dynamite, and has directly lead to me getting so much Husker Du, Lou Reed, Big Star, The Replacements and Velvet Underground music. So kudos to them. Now for the movie itself, the more I think about it the more I like it. But I suppose I'll like any movie where the nerdy guy gets the girl. Not as funny as I expected, but still good.
-Shenanigans: Tim and I were bored, and Kevin was at work. So naturally we started plotting and Tim decided to tie all of Kevin's shoes together. We then decided we needed to get the shoes he wore to work as well. Kevin comes home, I try to distract him in the garage, but fail to hold his attention so Tim runs across the room to avoid being seen with Kevin's shoes. Fortunately he can tie quick and we got him. Tim and I then head up to Oswego for the night, leaving Kevin to do whatever he damn well pleases. Upon our return I am excited to see that none of our stuff has been piled in the front lawn and burned, Kevin appears to not have retaliated.
Tim goes to work the next day, leaving Kevin and I alone. Kevin does some fancy computer work and first Heather then Tim are baffled. Same thing next day, except this time Kevin and I are truly inspired. I'll skip all the details but just know this, when Tim came home from work porn was playing through his speakers, I was thrusting into something under his covers. For a solid few minutes Kevin had him genuinely convinced I was sexing up a cougar. Good times. Quick side note, if you're having "relations" in Tim's bed, lock the door because he'll walk in on you a few times to check how things are going. If I really had a lady with me it would have been awkward.
-The Madagascar penguins have a show on Nick. And it's awesome.

The worst part is you don't know it...
...you're having the time of your life.
-Mansions "The Worst Part"
I really hope the new Taking Back Sunday album is good. I have a soft spot for this band, more so than any of the bands mentioned in my previous blog. Tell All Your Friends is by my favorite of theirs but they have several other songs that I really do enjoy, so here's hoping they can deliver a solid album from start to finish.
Speaking of new albums, here's a video with some info on Ashley Tisdale's new album Guilty Pleasure...
MySpace Fashion Presents the FIT with Ashley Tisdale
So there's a movie called Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs coming out. It's written and directed by two of the executive producers of How I Met Your Mother. It's an animated film with a sweet cast, Mr. T for starters. I'd include the trailer for you but they didn't make it so I couldn't embed it for you. But it's worth checking out. Apparently it's based on a book. Who knew?
You wanna hear a band that very much has the "Dan sound"? Of course you do.
I think I'll see them in Oswego.
There's a company that sells cheap electronics at my place of employment. And their product descriptions are so bad it's almost like they're being translated by someone without a firm grasp of English. Think something along the lines of "all your base are belong to us." And it provides me with joy while stuck in my 40 by 53 foot cell.
Continuing the retail related comments please don't do these things. When a cashier asks for your phone number, unless you've been flirting for close to ten plus minutes don't jokingly say any of the following...
-"As long as you promise to call"
-"I'm married"
-"You hitting on my wife(or husband)?"
You're not funny. And I'll immediately hate you for forcing me to awkwardly laugh at your "original" "jokes." And yes I quoted each word to emphasize how they are neither original or jokes.
Also not allowed...
-Cheesy pick up lines, such as "are you for sale"
-"There's no price on this, so that means it's free"
Once again, you're not funny. And if you're smaller, and preferably white, I may hit you.
And final work related comment. There's a new game for the Wii called Ready 2 Rumble which isn't anything great except they blatantly included celebrity knockoffs without getting their endorsement. For example, there's Jack Black, Will Ferrel, Simon Cowel. Additionally there's a red haired skateboarder who has a flying tomato on his shirt. Clearly it's Shaun White and clearly they're using his likeness. In addition to that addition there's a rather handsome fellow who's name is something clubber. And he looks like Brad Pitt. Also I think David Beckham is in there but I'm not positive on that.
I've got a lot of downtime at work and I've become fascinated by a few things. First and foremost is farts. I've decided there's a lot going on with farts that not enough people realize. Think about it, depending on the situation farts are a) hilarious, b) inappropriate c)hilariously inappropriate. Farting is even like a way to judge how far in a relationship you are, because there are certain things you don't do immediately in a relationship, like I will wait until the third date to fully reveal how perfect I am. But normal people(mainly girls) will wait before they feel it's acceptable to fart in front of their significant other. And it's not like we're talking about weird fetishes or nerdy tendencies they're hiding. It's a perfectly normal body function. Someone with a strong work ethic needs to study this phenomenon.
Secondly, instead of writing a novel(which is far too hard and time consuming) I'll be writing a Christmas story. Entitled How We Saved Christmas it's going to be awesome. Look for it to be finished by Thanksgiving.
Thirdly, I had a dream last night that made me so genuinely afraid I damn near shot up in my bed and thought I may have peed myself. It was a dream I remember having a long long time ago. Anyways I was in a dark room/house/train car/not sure with a group of people. And this time, a puppy. Anywho, we're all sitting there in relative darkness and people are being brutally murdered every so often. Everyone's like who's the killer? Who's the killer? And I'm all like I've read Ten Little Indians I'll pretend to be dead and then throw the killer off his game and catch him! Brilliant plan, except the killer is hip to my game and comes to get me next. So I'm sitting there, pretending to be dead, with this adorable little puppy and out of nowhere lightning crashes. I hear screaming and look up and there's a ghost of the creepiest fucking kid ever right in front of me and he's looking so hard into my eyes I'm convinced he's stealing my soul. And then instead of screaming I projectile spit woke up sweaty and out breath. And I understand to you this is really lame but I had to put the tv back on and find something to watch so I wouldn't have to go back to sleep and face that creepy kid again.
I saw this video and immediately thought of Nathan.
Good Old War - Weak Man
Quick Butch Walker show review.
Butch Walker is the man. That is all. Well not really. He played what I believe to be a very similar set as last time, most of Sycamore Meadows a few choice cuts from Letters while basically ignoring Left of Self Centered and Rise and Fall..., but it's all good because he's so damn good at life. I doubt anyone has as much fun performing as he does. On top of that he's quick on his feet and can adjust on the fly/make witty comments, and he interacts with the crowd enough to get a good sense of his sincerity. And to top it off for his encore he performed the one song I wish he had played last time. Twas awesome. Also the venue was nice.

My next blog should be more interesting.
Another trip upstate has come and gone and once again I just wish I had more time. Which is funny, because I have way too much free time but not nearly enough time to spend with the people that I worry I will never see again in just a matter of months. As a reaction to this realization I've made several changes in my life, most recently I've decided I'm going to do somethings even if I'm not all that interested just to have more in common with some of my friends. Additionally I'm working on being more appreciative of what I have and worrying less about what I don't have and what I can't change.
Additional upstate anecdote, I've got pictures from my camera which I will not put up on facebook/tag because I'm lazy. If you want I can email them to you and you can do it. But more importantly, I don't know what's going on with me eyes, maybe their too kick ass to show up but I'm the only one who's got the whole red eye thing in something like 140 pictures on that camera. I don't know how that happened but it alarms me, maybe I'm the terminator. Which would be awesome because then I can wear my leather vest and anyone without the last name Connor wouldn't be able to give me shit for it.
I've developed a fascination with wikipedia. Well not wikipedia exactly, but wikipedia's specifically for certain films, books, tv shows. For example the Lord of the Rings has everything you'll ever need to know without having to read the books or watch the movies. It's awesome. For example, did you know that Pippin's son, Faramir(obviously named after the Steward of Gondor) married Sam's daughter, Goldilocks. Whether they had children or not is not mentioned.
I don't know why George Clinton and one the singers from Crazy Town are on tv together but I'm sure it's awesome. Or at least I hope it is.
Fun fact Nate, the lead singer(at least I assume it's the lead singer) of Lola Ray has an English Bulldog. Be jealous.
You wanna hear a demo from what I hope to be my favorite record of the year? Sure you do. New As Tall As Lions demo/outake It's a quiet acoustic number so you may need/want to listen to it through head phones And I just figured out why I am so excited for their new stuff. With other bands I feel like they've reached their peak, for example I feel like I know what to expect from Brand New, Thursday, Augustana, Jimmy Eat World. But As Tall As Lions is still a bit of a mystery to me, they're capable of going above and beyond almost anything those other bands have put out. When I listen to them I just get the feeling that every member of the band is a great musician. Even if they don't put everything together in all their songs there's always something to like. But I don't know much about how musically talented they actually are mainly because I have no idea myself and partially because I can't seem to get Nate to listen and to tell me what to think about them. So really it's his fault.
I know everyone's all bent out of shape over the new facebook, but I rather like it. If for no other reason that it asked me what's on my mind. I appreciate that facebook, so kudos to you.
Ace Enders new CD is good. It's basicly Early November 2.0, and I'm very much okay with that.
Also just in case you didn't know, it is the season of Ted Leo. With the weather warming up and the summer approaching, I highly recommend you listen to some of his stuff. Your life will be better for it.
50 Cent will be performing on select dates with Fall Out Boy. Pete Wentz might be the most powerful man in the world. BTW, this is awesome.
I changed my computer background, and I know you don't care but I'm sharing in spite of that actually. Anyways, it's Calvin and Hobbes, again, because the comics usually put me in a good mood. Which I think is proof that Calvin and Hobbes is indeed the greatest comic strip of all-time.
There are a few bands that for whatever reason I have a soft spot for. I can go months without listening to them but will not skip a track of theirs whenever it comes on randomly, the main ones are as follows...
-Paramore
-Mayday Parade
-The Rocket Summer
-Something Corporate
-Over It/ RunerRunner

Yesterday Went Too Soon...
I need another word for vagina is the best website ever. And it is exactly what you think it is.
Fail at Price Is Right sound. On demand. Awesome.
So here's a link for 99 of the best youtube videos or something. Enjoy, you're soon to be unemployed ass will thank me later for all the time you've wasted. I'll be honest most of the links I clicked on(which wasn't many) didn't entertain me.
"Have you ever wondered what would happen if a nuclear bomb goes off in your city? With Google's Maps framework and a bit of Javascript, you can see the outcome.
And it does not look good."
It's official, the Return of the King is the best movie of all times. That means forever...ever.
I hope the following quote is enough reasons to get you to read a list of seven of the most insane military attempts to weaponize animals...
"It seems the cats tended to lose consciousness when plunging towards the earth at terminal velocity while strapped to a bomb. And that, as much as anything, is why cats will never be man's best friend."
This is a nice companion piece to the above link.
Big day for Dan today. Bought a new belt, although sadly I once again fell victim to the "it's two belts in one how can I lose?" I know exactly how I can lose, I've lost twice now, including last night. But I'm giving it one more shot. Hopefully it'll go something like this, "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Work out perfectly the third time. Huzzah."
Additionally I bought a new wallet. It's my third wallet since 6th grade or something. And it's ok, I still much prefer my older beaten up wallet but the new one was half priced when bought with the previously mentioned belt.
Still need new shoes though.
Watched the movie Ten Inch Hero and although it quickly turned into a chick flick I was ok with it for a few reasons. First it had two women that I'm madly in love with starring it in. I got to see boobs and ass of one the previously mentioned chicks. The soundtrack was solid. And finally I'm clearly a chick. Also it's got the dude from Supernatural and My Bloody Valentine.
I'm getting a little excited for baseball season to start. Granted it's still like a month away or something, and then it'll be another six or so months on top of that before I can really decide whether I've had enough of the Mets breaking my heart to call it a day. Also this is how bad the sport has gotten, on the Yankees you have the super star how used steroids, got caught, came clean and then got caught lying while telling the truth. Meanwhile over at Mets' camp you've got the ace, and easily the most important player on the team out because of an elbow injury. Except he's fine...But really, he'll miss opening day...but he won't. Science damn you baseball. Why can't it be easy and all puff pieces on how with the revamped bullpen the Mets are the team to beat this year? Or perhaps why can't Derek Jeter unexpectedly announce his retirement. I'm done with him, everything about him is way too calculated. He bores me. That's why I like Arod, he's stupid, well he says and does stupid things.
I'm begining to think AROD is just trying to mess with people and get them all bent out of shape.
Big night for the Rangers tonight, first game with their new coach, hopefully they play well. A win would be nice but just playing a full 60 minutes would be a good start.
Fun fact, Mr. Fantastic is in Titanic. And he's the one that makes the lifeboats go back to look for survivors.
I love the band Northstar, but I don't think I'll ever fully understand their lyrics.
The new Ace Enders' track is what I've been waiting for since the Early November broke up.
So I finished Twilight and while it's not a bad story, it's not very well written. And the author might not be a bad writer, as a matter of fact she may be a great writer, but the book was either written by someone with an eighth grade reading level, or purposely written at that level. Which I was willing to tolerate, because The Hobbit is a children's book, but when the author(hence forth known as she) had a chance to redeem herself and prove me wrong she took the easy way out. Maybe it was her intent, to have four hundred pages of build up and then essentially skip past the drama. There's a chance she left it out to reveal it in later books. Maybe in her mind it wasn't an important aspect of the story. Which while being a very basic love story involving vampires isn't bad but I feel robbed. So Stephanie Meyer, I would like an explanation or some of my life back. Also, maybe you could have cut out like a hundred pages, unless of course you were getting paid by the page. If so, kudos.
Quick update: It took me a few hours but I realized why she cut out the fight scene. The whole book is told from one characters POV and she gets knocked out. So touche, Twilight, I now feel like an asshole.
I'll be honest, I won't seek out the next book, shocking I know, but I would read it if it presented itself. It'll be a quick and easy read and make me feel accomplished.

Hey, it's a cleverly titled entry...
Believe it or not I am some what a fan of Lord of the Rings, and this independently done prequel of sorts looks pretty good.
THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM - FULL Trailer 1 from Independent Online Cinema on Vimeo.
I'm becoming more and more addicted to the song "About A Girl" by The Academy Is. It's a very catchy little diddy even if the lyrics are very amateurish. Still, it's a solid pop rock song that Nate probably hates without having heard it. Fun fact it also served as the background music to a little video Taylor Swift made about her day to day life. True story. Now if you'll forgive me I'm about to use math from high school for the first time in my life...
-If Taylor likes the song and Dan likes the song then they must be soul mates. That's one of those logic problems...more or less.
Travis Pastrana is either incredibly stupid or incredibly awesome. And the show Nitro Circus is the shit.
I think about weird things in the shower. It's sometimes awkward. For example, I've spent far too much time staring at the tiles and finding faces in them with my personal favorite being "angry Abe Lincoln." Beyond that and marveling at my finely sculpted body I'll think to myself, "Dan, you haven't been to the dentist in a while...Remember when you had the dentist named Dr. Gross?...And now it's Dr. Weiner...That's some weird names...you know who else had a weird name *insert random former friend/acquaintance here*...I wonder what happened to them." That's all one continuous thought and leads to me eventually having to convince myself that the shower is not the appropriate time to be thinking about that kid who was in your second grade class but moved and has the same first name as a current friend of yours. So feel safe in knowing that there's a chance that everytime I shower I'm thinking about you. Unless of course you're Nate, then I'm always thinking about you, shower or not.
Continuing the random facts. A guy I work with said I sound like Frank Sinatra. Which while being incredibly awesome seems a tad bit off. He also added that I could probably sing well if I tried. Now that's true, my voice sounds like a cross between Fergie and Jesus(I apologize for the obvious reference but it needed to be done). All in all he's a good guy so I'm going to take every word he says as gospel, take it straight to heart. Who ever names the song referenced there wins. Go. Ok fail, it's Time And Distance. I win. You all lose. Especially you Nate.
I'm now convinced that hockey is the way hd should be judged. Don't get me wrong, HD looks good at all times but hockey is probably the toughest to get right. As I am learning while adjusting the settings on my tv.
Nothing is going my way tonight and it's a little frustrating. First and foremost apparently I waited too long to buy the Scene It game for the xbox so I'm going to have to man up and buy the newer more expensive version. There's a new band I'm kind of getting into, but I can't find their ep online anywhere(even iTunes, I'm willing to pay for it. As a result I'm streaming their stuff online though myspace who hates me and makes it so once you listen to four songs or so you have to say no I'd rather not do a survey just let me listen to music. Damn you Tom, I'm a little bitter but kudos to you for being able to make more money apperently. And finally as you probably know(since you're Nate and you were there) it's become exponentially harder for me to hate the Islanders now. And you all should know how much I hated them at one point. But it's mainly the Scene It thing. Also the Rangers still can't score, fyi I'm watching the game now and was really hoping by typing that last sentence the I'd reverse jinx myself /the Rangers and they'd score but it's not going to happen. And on cue theRangers Leafs score. Their name isn't even a word. It's leaves not leafs. And yet they're winning. And just so you know I literally just finished typing the reverse jinx thing and the leafs scored.
Fun fact about Dan that ties into the Rangers. As you know I've played a lot of sports games in my life and have run teams for multiple seasons, controlling the games and the players that are signed and traded for. Additionally I had a short temper and made many rash decisions which prompted Kevin to say this about the Rangers..."If they didn't play tonight Sather(the Rangers GM) would have pulled a Dan." See that's real life working it's way into virtual reality working into what ever you want to call the cluster fuck of the Rangers season.
And we're back. The Rangers scored, it might be their first meaningful goal since Matteau put one past Brodeur. MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU! Still gives me chills, easily one of the best play by play calls that I can think of. Right up there with "do you believe in miracles? Yes!"
And the Rangers you've come to know andlove tolerate are back. They allow a soft goal to relinquish the lead. BTW this has all happened in like five minutes of real time. 2:24 game time.
So they're showing highlights of the Rangers season and it's like 30 seconds long. Which is impressive that they found that many highlights, but then you realize that they're cutting in video of past glory, ala the Stanley Cup, and you go "ah, I knew this was too long to be all this year's highlights."
In case you can't tell this has broken my heart. And my will not to be a full time alcoholic. It's sad but it's a one goal game and the entire arena has given up on this team.
On the bright side I've discovered that the EP I couldn't buy isn't out yet.
"Fire Sather" says the crowd.
The worst part about the Rangers is that it's veterans making rookie mistakes. It's like they're actively trying to get their coach fired. Is it sad that I can't even get excited by a last minute goal that ties the game? That's how apathetic this team has made me.
Here's some videos related to the Rangers to cheer me up...
Bobby Granger ftw.
So you know right before the videos I mentioned it's like the Rangers were actively trying to get their coach fired? Well mission accomplished. As of like 10 hours after the game ended he was fired. I feel bad for the guy, he was a class act. And even though he wasn't the perfect coach, his team is severely lacking key components and he deserved to get more effort from some of the veterans who gave so much respect to and yet they couldn't help him out. And yes I'm partially looking at hero of mine Chris Drury. Not that you care.
I've realized I am very much lacking direction in my life. It's entirely my fault but I wish I had something even relatively unimportant to look forward to after work. Even if it's a video game, a book, some sense of "ok, just two more hours and then I get to get back to this." Idealy it would be a woman but I'm setting the bar kind of low. I've got some friends who have recently gotten into a certain book series and it kept them occupied in their free time. And books, even if poorly written are a much better use of time than me sitting here listening to music and thinking about how much I hate myself(which isn't much, because honestly I'm perfect in nearly every way).
Speaking of Twilight, apparently my mom has a copy of the book. If I don't find anything interesting to read after finishing the two books I'm currently reading I may give it a whirl just to see how it is.
So here are a few random things I don't like...
-People who use the term whoopie instead of saying sex or something.
-People who say "cuss" instead of curse. Is there a reason for this? Someone care to explain.
-"Do it right quick."
You want to hear something ironical? What's that? Yes of course? Well since you're begging. According to my last.fm page I've listened to Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate 521 times each. Cuh-ray-zee.
Linksies for funsies...for realzies
I bang the worst dudes(sorry mom).

As you may have noticed in my last blog entry my new pastime is sitting around making myself depressed. It's been going rather well, I was actually done with it for a whole twenty four hours or so and then something else pulled me back in. On the bright side I finally think I've got something figured out that's been a source of confusion for a little while now. Kudos to me.
Conviently the Rangers have decided to start playing like absolute crap How I Met Your Mother didn't air an episode this week because our President clearly doesn't care about me since all this started it's almost as if the world, and our President, is kicking me while I'm down. On the bright side I've been reading more since, but I've picked two rather depressing books so it's furthering this depressed state. Not too mention the music I listen too. I'd read cheerier books but I'm very paticular about what books I'll read and I've read every Bill Bryson book I can find at the library/Barnes and Noble.
I've comprised a list of my top 60 or so albums that I own which you may or may not be able to read here if you're interested.
Notes on my one of my favorite movies. (fyi I've been drinking and will continue drinking while writing this so if the grammar or spelling suffers please forgive me)
I may have mentioned this before but Say Anything's video for "Alive With The Glory of Love" makes a cameo in Bridge To Terebithia.
Yo, blonde chick ftw.
"You're lucky to have a sister.
Yeah I've got four of them and I'd trade them for a good dog."
Ahhh foreshadowing, science damn you!
Of course the ginger kid is the pseudo bad guy.
I might have to read this book, which should take me no more than an afternoon tops.
Hayden Panitiere(?) singing ftw.
For better or for worse if I have a daughter in the next ten years she will be judged based on Anna Sophia Rob's character in this movie.
Zoey Deschannel is the shit. Love her. Good for you Ben Gibbard.
Bitch if you were really friends you'd walk him! Damn you woman.
I'm pseudo jealous of the relationship between the two main characters in this movie. Man I'm lonely.
Jess wanted two women and now one of them is dead and he can never have the other one. Damn it Jess, why couldn't you appreciate what you had? DAMN YOU!
Note to self, never drink and watch this movie again. And what's worse as far as my memory goes the book is even more depressing, and that's seriously fucked up.
There's a lot about this movie that's bad, the acting is the main culprite and the story isn't even all that great. But the end just breaks my heart, it kills me everytime. A little has to do with how undeniably cute the girl is but the main thing is at it's core it's about a guy who "falls in love" with a girl who causes him to change for the better, and then she unexpectedly dies and he feels responible. I've gotten to the point where I no longer feel for the actor or actress it's become a developement with the characters. I don't get all emotional over many things but it's hard to not feel for Jess when watching the movie and or reading the book. I can't even imagine how I would react if any you reading this died unexpectedly(assuming we're actually friends and you don't just read this ebcause of how damn good looking I am).
Fun fact Merriweather Lewis brought his newf on his expidition where he met Sacaquewea(that's close enough for you to understand). And that is reason number a billion why newfs are awesome. Reason one, I have one. Reason two, Jake had one. Deal with it, our dogs are better than yours. Unless of course you have a newf, in which case we're even.
Fun fact two, the dog was named Seaman and has it's own wikipedia page.
"But I swear there's still some good in me
And I think if you stuck around you'd see
All the honest attempts at integrity, I was had
Maybe if you helped me, I'd get it right
I lie awake every night, staring at the ceiling
Wondering why I feel so bad, why I feel so bad
But I swear, I swear, I swear I'll never get sad."

Seriously?
If you'll tolerate me for a few minutes, I'm going to do some serious blogging as it were...shocking I know.
While I was driving home from upstate, thinking about my trip I got depressed like I always do. It happens every time so that's not really noteworthy, but this time was I had a weird epiphany of sorts. After a fairly long discussion that I never really touched base on my life and such I found what I hope to be a lasting source of motivation for me. Ever since I left Oswego I've had moments and plans filled with grand ambition that's never turned into anything. But I feel like now for the first time I have something to really motivate me. I decided that it's time I change a lot of things about me. Most of this stuff no one will really know about or notice, but for the first time I have some long term goals with specific steps of achieving them.
On a related note I'm slowly driving myself insane/depressing myself thinking about everything these past two days. There's quite a few things that I really want but will never/can't happen. And it's making me depressed, but at least I've got a new Damnwells record(btw this won't be the only Damnwells plug, download this CD it's good and free). The more I think about it the more unsure I am about everything. I mean I had what I thought to be really clear thoughts in my head and as things usually go the more I thought about them the more unsure I've become. All I know is that I really can't stop thinking about this and it's making me...uneasy for lack of a better term.
I really don't think I'm ready for this next stage of my life to begin in full. I'm not ready for all of my friends to be moving on. And it's not that I'd wish a few of them screwed up along the way with me, I'm not that selfish, it's just that they're all going to be moving on and possibly moving away. And now I'm realizing I'm not ready for that. I missed out on a lot the last couple of years and it's finally catching up with me. That's one thing I wish I could change about myself, despite being incredibly focused on doing what is best for me right now I rarely appreciate anything until it's much too late. I'm just hoping that I haven't missed out entirely on some things and there's still time for me at least make myself feel a little bit better.
"You said I was made to inspire
I can change lives if you change me"
-The Devil And The Lion
I've only listened to a few things this past week...
-The Devil and The Lion: The Devil And The Lion
-The Damnwells: One Last Century
-Moving Mountains: Foreward
-Jimmy Eat World "23"
-Northstar "Chesterfield King"
"Amazing still it seems
I'll be 23
I won't always love what I'll never have
I won't always live in my regrets"
-Jimmy Eat World

Quick hits before Syracuse
There are a lot bands/movies/books/etc. that I really only like for the whole nostalgia thing. I know everyone does this but I feel like it's almost holding me back somehow. Like it's keeping me from moving on or growing up or something. On a somewhat related note as soon as the Simpsons goes off air and releases a box set I'll probably spend upto $200 on that and never watch more than a handful of episodes.
Speaking of moving on, I think it's time I invested in a new wallet. But I'm very paticular about this so it's going to be an ongoing saga. I'll be sure to keep you updated with new developments.
New Futurama DVD on the 24th, needless to say this news blew my mind.
Fun facts, losing at a video game makes me very angry. Which is sad I know, but moving on. Puppys running around causing pure chaos is awesome.
Maybe I'm the last one to notice this but Lonnie is definitely in the first episode of Scrubs, he makes a cameo in an mri machine.
I know the show has had it's share of critics but after a subpar season two Heroes has redeemed itself with a great season three and a very promising start to season four. Even if it is basicaly doing the xmen/sentinals story. But let's be honest when you're dealing with super powers there's only so much story potential.
New Damnwells record Feb 10. And you can get it here for free. I don't think words can describe how excited I am for this. New songs are up on their myspace as well and they're fantastic. I've spent most of my morning listening to them while kind of reading/watching the snow fall, it's nice not having a real job.
"There was a story on last year's Eli Manning-to-David Tyree play. Giants center Shaun O'Hara had this to say about Manning's somehow slipping out of Richard Seymour's grasp before throwing the ball downfield: "It was such an impressive play from our standpoint because we've seen [Eli] fall on the ground numerous times before in practice for no reason at all."
Whoever doubted me that it was Diane Kruger in Troy can suck it.
In suprising news story 842...c...I like the Veronica's. And I feel entirely confident in saying that having listened to a full 1 3/4 songs. BTW, in case you didn't catch it Nate I was pseudo referencing you.
I have a new favorite website, not unlike not always right. It's called F*** My Life. And it's awesome, current favorites...
"Today, I got an email from the local D&D meet up group that the next meeting will be on Feb. 14th. I don't know what is more sad... that the group is meeting on valentines day or that I have nothing better to do but go. FML"
"Today, I drove an hour in a rainstorm to go see my boyfriend. Thirty minutes and a blow job later, he tells me he's going to meet some friends for dinner in half an hour then kicks me out of his house. It's still raining. FML"
"Today, I was refilling some guy's iced tea at bandana's, and the uppity jerk had the gall to ask me if I ever kissed a girl considering how fat I am, how high my voice is, and how little money I make. FML"
"Today, a girl I've had a huge crush on for a long time told another friend of ours to get a life. I, in my infinite genius responded that her mom needed to get a life. She ran out of the room bawling. I got slapped in the face and informed that her mom had died not long ago. FML"
There probably won't be any athlete in NY more deserving of getting his number retired than Adam Graves.
Mark Messier is like two minutes into his speach about Adam Graves and he's already teary eyed. He might be the toughest cry baby ever.
"I feel I have to find some meaning
I don't think I see any
I don't know what it is I see at all
Oh, no one's got it right, yeah
They're just telling lies
Combined with their own special kind of truth"
-Straylight Run
So this band is giving away their new ep for free. And it's not bad, similar enough to Brand New, it's not as good but there's some potential here and it's free.
